Jim was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and cut his teeth running the dirt kart tracks of Kentucky beginning at age 11. After a successful stint in various karts Jim moved up through the open-wheel ranks piloting lighting sprints, midgets and both wing and non-wing sprint cars in Indiana. Jim also has significant experience building and crewing cars for all three USAC national series, the Chili Bowl, ARCA and the World of Outlaws. In addition to racing competitively, Jim has 14 years of experience instructing for various race car driving experiences nationwide.
Currently Jim lives in Denison, TX and is the lead mechanic for a 4-car sprint car and midget team; and still gets behind the wheel a handful of times per year.
